Hello all, Recently WoTC did an article on "powergaming" within the D&D game. Personally I do not think "powergaming" and "plain whining/disagreeableness(munchkin-ism)" are the same thing. For instance, I have a powergamer in my campaign that always wants the most powerful characters, the highest AC, the weapons that do the most damage, etc.; then I have the "whiny gamer" who I call "The gaming brat", or, "the stupid player"; this guy will whine until your ear falls off, he whines about LAs, about the ruleset, about character creation, about his background, etc, etc. The list goes on and on. The difference IMO between the two is that the "powergamer" knows how to use the rules--as they are-- to create his/her character, but he/she always stays within the ruleset with no complaints. They just have found a way--once again "using the ruleset"--to create the character they want in the D&D game. Not a crime IMO. On the other hand, you have "The stupid player(a.k.a. Baby Boy/Girl, The gaming brat, The VGS player)" that wants his/her way no matter what. This person will find any and everything wrong with the ruleset that does not allow him/her to have their way. Everytime he/she cannot do something it is always the DMs fault, or the other player's fault, or the gaming systems fault; rather than just admitting they are stupid and don't know how to do anything. I don't think powergaming and whiney players are the same. Comments ? Az
